Worn, cracked or hardened seals can reduce the airtightness of a window. We inspect the existing seals and fit a suitable replacement where needed, taking account of the window profile and the way the sash closes.
Signs worth checking
Visible cracks, a flattened seal, loss of flexibility or a draught around a closed sash can indicate wear. Moisture and noise can have several causes, so replacing a seal should follow an inspection rather than an assumption.
A suitable profile matters
Window seals differ in shape and size. We check the existing profile and its groove before choosing a replacement. A seal that is too thick can make the window difficult to close; an unsuitable profile may leave gaps.
What the work includes
We assess the seal and the sash, remove the worn material where replacement is appropriate, prepare the groove and fit the new seal. We then check the closing pressure and operation of the window. Adjustment may also be needed.

Will new seals fix every draught?
No. A draught can also be caused by sash alignment, closing pressure or the installation joint. The cause needs to be checked.
Can every window use the same seal?
No. The profile must suit the window system and its groove.
Do the windows need to be replaced?
