Window gearbox and espagnolette replacement in Warsaw

Handle moving without operating the locking points, or window stopping between modes? DomoSerwis checks the gearbox, espagnolette and connected fittings to identify an appropriate repair.

Identify the fittings, locate the fault and confirm compatible parts before replacement.

Symptoms that need a mechanism check

Spinning handles, stationary locking points and jamming can involve the gearbox, handle spindle, corner drive, strip connection or mishandling device. We locate the fault rather than selecting a part from symptoms alone.

Resistance that appears when the sash is closed can also involve its alignment and contact with the keeps. Replacing the gearbox without addressing excessive loading may leave the problem unresolved. Do not force the handle or prise at fittings on a locked window.

A separate gearbox or the complete espagnolette?

The gearbox transfers handle rotation to the locking mechanism. The espagnolette forms part of the strip assembly that works with fittings around the sash. Some systems allow a separate module to be changed; others require a compatible espagnolette or a larger replacement set. The construction determines the available repair.

Selection involves the manufacturer and series, sash dimensions, handle position, mechanism backset, faceplate width and connecting arrangement. A similar appearance or matching brand name does not guarantee compatibility. With older fittings, we check suitable part availability and explain realistic alternatives.

A clearly agreed repair

We explain the fault, required parts and associated adjustment before starting. After replacement, we check locking, opening modes, sash alignment and keeps. If a wider set is needed, we explain why before installation.

Information that helps before the visit

You can attach an overall window photo, the handle and readable markings on the metal strip if the sash opens normally. For a locked or jammed window, a picture of its current position is enough: do not force it open for a photo. Describe handle movement, available modes, when the fault began and your location.

Cost and appointments

Cost depends on the fittings system, part availability, connected components and whether the sash is locked shut. Photos support preparation; inspection confirms the diagnosis. Warsaw and nearby-town visits are arranged with timing and conditions agreed beforehand.

Questions before booking

The handle spins right around. Is the gearbox broken?

It may be, but the spindle and connections need checking first. The symptom does not identify one component conclusively.

Can the gearbox case always be replaced on its own?

No. It depends on the design and availability of a compatible module. Some repairs require a new espagnolette.

Will the complete window need replacing?

A mechanism fault does not automatically require that. We assess the window condition and whether the fittings can be repaired.

How can I identify the fittings manufacturer?

Markings on the metal strip and component shapes help. The profile manufacturer may differ from the fittings manufacturer.
