A handle problem or a fault inside the window?

A cracked lever, damaged base or loose fixing may need attention to the handle itself. Resistance can also come from a dropped sash, misaligned keeps, a mishandling device or a faulty gearbox. Replacing the lever will not repair a damaged mechanism inside the fittings.

We inspect how the handle transfers movement and whether the sash meets the frame correctly. Tell us whether resistance occurs while pulling the window shut, turning the handle or selecting tilt mode. Avoid forcing a handle past a hard stop.

Choosing a compatible handle

Colour and shape are only part of the decision. Spindle length and section, fixing positions, base design and clearance around the handle all matter. Blinds, the sill and an adjacent sash may restrict the space available. The name on the window profile does not identify every fitted component.

Standard, push-button and key-locking options can be considered after the existing function is checked. A locking handle does not automatically give the complete window a certified burglary resistance rating. We explain the practical difference before you choose.

Describe whether the handle wobbles, spins around or stops in one position, and give the number of affected windows and your location.

Questions before booking

Does a loose handle always need replacing?

No. The fixing may be repairable. We also check the lever, spindle and base for wear.

The handle spins but the window does not move. Will a new one solve it?

Not necessarily. The connection or gearbox may be faulty, so the cause needs checking first.

Can you fit a handle with a key?

Often this is possible, subject to dimensions and the existing fittings function. We confirm compatibility before fitting.

Do you also replace balcony door handles?

Yes, the internal handle operating the fittings. An external pull handle and balcony catch are a separate service.
