UNI-JET or ALU-JET? Frame material is not enough

UNI-JET is intended for a 16 mm hardware groove. ALU-JET covers aluminium solutions with a 15/20 mm sash groove. A GU marking or an aluminium frame alone does not identify the correct replacement.

We identify the family, hinge variant, opening type and markings. Groove size and hardware axis are different measurements. Sliding windows require separate checks of guides and carriages, beyond an ordinary tilt-and-turn description.

Check the complete locking sequence

Inspection covers the drive, corner connections, movement of locking points and keeps in the frame. A misaligned sash can make a sound mechanism hard to operate. Where a connection or gearbox has failed, closing-pressure adjustment alone will not restore proper operation.

  • Handle stops: inspect the drive and engagement with keeps.
  • Sash catches: check supports, fixings and alignment.
  • Tilt function fails: check the scissor stay and mechanism sequence.

The part must match both hardware and profile

Replacement checks include part number, mounting geometry, size range, groove type and interaction with adjoining components. A similar-looking keep or hinge can belong to a different version. We do not combine unrelated UNI-JET and ALU-JET components.

A sound assembly may need adjustment or maintenance according to its documentation. For damaged components we check replacement compatibility and availability first. Afterwards we examine sash stability, movement and closure, including guides for sliding constructions.

Questions before booking

Does every GU aluminium window contain ALU-JET?

Frame material alone cannot establish that. Different aluminium solutions exist; we check the groove, markings and installed components.

Does a 16 mm groove guarantee part compatibility?

No. It is one selection criterion. The version, dimensions, fixings and connections of the specific component must still be verified.

Can window hardware be used in a GU entrance door?

Window fittings and entrance-door locks have different functions and constructions. We match a part to the identified mechanism without assuming interchangeability.

Can I request an assessment for a GU sliding door?
